Coming from someone who has been an avid Tyler Perry follower since the beginning of his career, this is going to be a shocker; but I was extremely disappointed with Madea Goes To Jail. Overall it was very cliche and it did not grab my attention as anything different or exciting.
The movie follows a group of accomplished attorneys, but mainly engaged couple Joshua (Derek Luke) and Linda (Ion Overman). When Joshua runs into an old friend with whom he has "history" with, it shakes up his enagement more than what he expected.
All the while, Madea, infamous for her run-ins with the law, has encountered trouble yet again. However, unlike every other time when she has been able to narrowly escape her upcoming fate, Madea will be serving jail time.
Tyler Perry's eccentric character known as Madea has run her course, in my opinion. I must not be the only one feeling this way, as Tyler Perry has announced that he has debated letting his character Madea "die a slow death."But not so fast. Madea has gained a lot of publicity and popularity over time, and although Tyler Perry has admitted he is tired of putting on a dress and playing Madea, the fans want it, so she will be round as long as she is demanded for. Let's just say I won't be excited for the future.
